The Statistical Anatomy of the Rooster-Dragon: Dissecting the Dichotomous Nature of One of Tapey Beercone’s Most Intriguing Players

When last we left off here at Stat Chug, this author presented a graph depicting the batting characteristics of the Regular Players of Tapey Beercone as they compared to average. This showed that no player compared close to average, with the possibility of one exception. Here’s what that graph looked like:

Recurring Players Compared to Average on Four Metrics

The one player close to average was Chris “The Rooster”/”The Dragon”. But as we will find, on closer inspection Chris is anything but average.

News: Annals Updated after Labor Day Games

Over Labor Day Weekend, a two game series of Tapey Beercone was played on Sun-Scorched New Gordon Field. The games ran the full spectrum of Tapey Beercone play. From the highs of a bases clearing double resulting in a five run inning, to the dismal fact that one game saw three beer spilling fouls charged.

From The Annals: Barnstorming

Tapey Beercone was created in a fit of intoxicated inspiration among a group of friends know collectively as the Buckos, who now preside as the governing Regents of the Sport. These events took place on one of many “Buckos Trips”, epic excursions taken by our group or a portion of it. And so it would followed, as the Annals of Tapey Beercone unfolded all the games took place on these storied Buckos Trips. And at the same time the sport developed, adding written rules, traditions, and statistics, all taking place on Buckos Trips. But eventually this wasn’t the case, and the question became as to how to handle these games?

To cap off Season 4 of Tapey Beercone, one final game was played on New Year’s Eve at Lotus Park, also the site of the 2014 Winter Classic. An exciting game was played which ended in a walk off victory in the last inning.

Photos from Oregon Tapey Beercone Invitational III

A monumental day of Tapey Beercone was had in beautiful MacLeay, Oregon at ‘Lectric Acres featuring a double header of two hotly contested Tapey Beercone games which featured excellent play from a number of players new to Buckos League TBC including Pete “The Wildcat”, “X-tine” Christine, and “Artillery” Arthur “Ten Mile”!

Photos from the 2016 Tapey Beercone Open Game

July of 2016 saw the first running of the Tapey Beercone Open Game. A simultaneous round robin tournament, open to all, and played in the scorching heat of the Northern California summer at Trailerville Acres. The game brought a host of new players to the sport and saw exciting action up to the finish including three out of the park home runs. In the end it was “The Dragon”‘s team that won in an extra inning after the final matchup was tied through one inning.

Photos from the Brown’s Downs Post Wedding Game

What better way to finished off all the left over keg beer the day after a wedding?

In what would start a Buckos tradition for years to come, the day after “The Mechanic”‘s wedding, a Tapey Beercone game was held at Brown’s Downs. An excellent and exciting game was had, which came down to the final out. Though a few players got a little too tipsy on the stronger keg beer. One of those players, “The Rooster” would get intoxicated to the point that he became Beerpope Rooster II.
