Gaveltime: Parliamentary Procedure of the Buckos Nation

There is a long and mighty legal tradition in the Buckos Nation. Tapey Beercone, famously created on that frigid January day, wasn’t “born with teeth.” From “Brown v. Education” to “Curtis v. Pile of Rocks” the laws of the Buckos Nation, and the game itself, were sculpted in media res. Any play, action, or stupid thing someone says can potentially trigger the meandering process by which a ground rule becomes codified in the “Official and Governing Rules” of the Sport.

Today, in preparation for the coming Rules Review, we discuss parliamentary procedure and the Buckos Rules of Order. Hang on tight, its gonna be a wild ride.

Per Your request and in preparation for a proposed rules review during the Oregon Tapey Beercone Invitational, listed below are a series of proposed rule chances. These includes a framework to codify the ground rules for base stealing, additional proposed rules to resolve other ground/governing rulings as well as open rules issues from this season, and lastly a number of minor rule changes/clarifications which this Commissioner deems worthy of discussion.

From the Annals: The Longest Game in Tapey Beercone History

A typical game of Tapey Beercone is 6 innings long and lasts about three to three and a half hours. For various reasons some games take longer, sometimes the play is slower, other times breaks are taken between innings. Still other times the inebriated state of one or more of the players causes delays.

6 for 6: #Beerpope

#Beerpope, a moment that made a Beerpope.

Tradition. Tapey Beercone is steeped in it. Since the first aluminum cans were wrapped in duct tape, the sport has held to a vast array of traditions. One needs only peruse the Official Rules finding there is literally a section titled “Traditions”, as evidence of how deeply traditions are held in the sport. More broadly, the entirety of Articles IV and V on Ground Rules and Sportsmanship codify many of the sport’s most deeply held rituals and conventions. However, the vast majority of these traditions are not founded in Tapey Beercone alone, but stretch out universally into the customs of the Buckos Nation at large. Some, such as naming each new field, or the Testicle Bill of Rights, owe their creation to Piney Pinecone. Still others, such as the playing of the Buckos National anthem or resolving disputes by Rock-Paper-Scissors are carryovers from Buckos culture in general. Not simply a part of the sport, they are traditions held across all aspects of life in the Buckos Nation. Rare is the tradition rooted in the game’s founding itself.

A monumental day of Tapey Beercone was had in beautiful MacLeay, Oregon at ‘Lectric Acres featuring a double header of two hotly contested Tapey Beercone games which featured excellent play from a number of players new to Buckos League TBC including Pete “The Wildcat”, “X-tine” Christine, and “Artillery” Arthur “Ten Mile”!
