Early this month an exciting game of Tapey Beercone transpired at New Gordon Field. The game was an exemplary display of great Tapey Beercone play featuring fantastic defensive plays, all around great offensive, and plentiful drinking. Two players reached the 2.0 CHG benchmark, and for the first time at New Gordon Field an Outside the Park Home Run was hit. To top it all, the game also featured the coronation of a new Beerpope!

From the Annals: The Longest Game in Tapey Beercone History
A typical game of Tapey Beercone is 6 innings long and lasts about three to three and a half hours. For various reasons some games take longer, sometimes the play is slower, other times breaks are taken between innings. Still other times the inebriated state of one or more of the players causes delays.

For the 3rd year in a row, the Tapey Beercone Open Game was held at Trailerville Acres and a wonderful day of Tapey Beercone action was had.
Congratulations to Team Coach for their nail-biter victory over Team Reverend, which required an extra inning of finals play to reach a decision, and to Tyler “The Deuce” for being named MVP of the Tournament after launching a colossal three-run home run over the left field fence and leading his team to the top seed of the round robin portion of the tournament.

Buckos Bulletins: Beer Pope Day 2018
With Beer Pope Day 2018 approaching, plans were formulated for a gathering at The Ranch, the hallowed birthplace of Tapey Beercone. At first it seemed like we would have just a small group, but as the big weekend approached, it became clear that a significant gathering would occur. Joining 4 regents (“The Hammer”, “The Coach”, “The Dragon”, and “The Reverend”) and an experienced and valued member of the Tapey Beercone Beercongress, (“The Stud”) would be season 5 rookie Frank Lenney. As a rookie, Frank joined the beer congress lacking in experience, but also lacking in a nickname.

The Second half of Season 5 kicked off with a bang, and the Buckos celebrated Beerpope Day Weekend at The Ranch. An exciting two game series took place at Sun Wet New Gordon Field which included many stalwart players, a returning legend, as well as Season 5’s first rookie.

#Beerpope, a moment that made a Beerpope.
Tradition. Tapey Beercone is steeped in it. Since the first aluminum cans were wrapped in duct tape, the sport has held to a vast array of traditions. One needs only peruse the Official Rules finding there is literally a section titled “Traditions”, as evidence of how deeply traditions are held in the sport. More broadly, the entirety of Articles IV and V on Ground Rules and Sportsmanship codify many of the sport’s most deeply held rituals and conventions. However, the vast majority of these traditions are not founded in Tapey Beercone alone, but stretch out universally into the customs of the Buckos Nation at large. Some, such as naming each new field, or the Testicle Bill of Rights, owe their creation to Piney Pinecone. Still others, such as the playing of the Buckos National anthem or resolving disputes by Rock-Paper-Scissors are carryovers from Buckos culture in general. Not simply a part of the sport, they are traditions held across all aspects of life in the Buckos Nation. Rare is the tradition rooted in the game’s founding itself.
